Flank Steak Broil

* 1 pound good quality flank steak
* 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1/4 cup red wine
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 1 teaspoon lemon juice
* 2 cloves garlic, crushed
* salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. Cut both sides of the steak into diamond pattern about 1/8-inch deep.
2. In a skillet, cook onions with butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt and wine until they are tender.
3. Keep warm.
4. In a bowl, whisk together vegetable oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper.
5. Brush half the mixture onto the beef.
6. Set oven to broil.
7. Broil beef with the top about 2-3 inches frm the heat until brown.
8. Broil for 5 minutes.
9. Turn beef and brush with remaining 1/2 of mixture.
10. Broil 5 minutes more.
11. Cut beef across grain at a slanted angle into thin slices.
12. Top with cooked onion mixture and serve.
