Southwestern-style Steak

* 1 1/2 lbs. flank steak or London broil, trimmed
* ***FOR THE MARINADE***
* 1 cup fresh lime juice (about 8 limes)
* 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced (about 1 cup)
* 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro or parsley
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
* 1 clove garlic, minced
Directions
1. To prepare marinade, in a shallow glass dish, combine lime juice, onion, cilantro, salt, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
2. Rub garlic over both sides of steak. Place steak in marinade; turn to coat. Cover dish with plastic wrap; refrigerate for 2 hours.
3. Preheat broiler. Line broiler pan with foil.
4. Remove steak from marinade. Discard marinade in dish. Place steak on prepared pan.
5. Broilsteak 4 to 5 minutes per side for medium, 6 to 7 minutes per side for well done.
6. Place steak on carving board or platter. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting across the grain into thin slices.
